And then what? Campervan hire in Whangarei
Travellers headed south from Whangarei after hiring their campervan will want to stop over at the Ruakaka Beach Holiday Park 30 km south of the city or the still more beloved Camp Waipu Cove less than 50 km south of the city along State Highway 1. Nestled in Bream Bay along one of the most pristine and beautiful summer beaches in New Zealand, these parks are great spots to really get your holiday started. The beaches along Bream Bay range from populated to secluded and feature the longest swimming season of New Zealand – from November to May! Come here to surf or observe surfers almost year round. Parking fees are typically around $1 an hour throughout central Whangarei, though there is free parking at the Town Basin car park off of Dent Street, where you can leave your car for three hours at a time. Long-term parking is also available for free at the Whangarei Airport, though if leave your car there for more than a month you risk it being towed. Whangarei is located along the north-south bound State Highway 1, two hours north of Auckland. While Auckland is certainly one of the most exciting cities of Oceania, excellent adventures await you north of Whangarei as well: follow State Highway 1 north to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds to learn more about New Zealand’s founding and Maori culture. From here you can swim with dolphins in the Bay of Islands or take a boat trip through the “Hole in the Rock.” Then continue along State Highway 1 to its northernmost tip at Cape Reinga where the Tasman Sea collides with the Pacific Ocean. Or head west out of the city along State Highway 14 to explore the forests of Northland – don’t miss the enormous Tane Mahuta in Waipoua Forest – and the west coast, which is accessible via State Highways 12, 14, and 15. Wine lovers will want to make the numerous cellar doors of the region a part of their trip; check out this Northland wine trail map to fully integrate wineries into your explorations. While there’s no need to stock up on wine before you leave Whangarei, you may want to stock up on groceries to be truly independent as you explore this scintillating region. There are a number of Countdowns and New World supermarkets on Bank Street north of the city centre and Oakara Drive south of the city centre. A Pak’n Save is conveniently located downtown on Robert Street; bring your own bags to stock up as you head back to your campervan following explorations of central Whangarei.

"Since we are very busy in our jobs, the camper used to sit in our driveway for long period of time and noone used it. So we had the idea to give other camping lovers the option to try and go away for a trip with a motorhome for an affordable price. We are happy with the platform, we feel supported well and our concerns are taken seriously."
"I rent out my motorhome because I don't want to have it sit in my driveway without being driven. Being in touch with the travellers is a great experience that I enjoy a lot."
"Thank you for inviting us to join SHAREaCAMPER NZ. It is great for owners of Camper Vans, Motorhomes, and Caravans, in New Zealand to share them with the people of the world, when they are not being used, so that they to may experience while they are on holiday in New Zealand, the travelling to beautiful places, and sites of New Zealand."
"Without SHAREaCAMPER we wouldn't have bought our camper! The customer support is professional and we have met many nice people, some of which even came back to hire our Dreamer a second time."
