Campervan hire in Hastings
Like nearby rival city Napier, Hastings is an architecturally fascinating city that is an excellent base from which to explore the agricultural productions of the Hawke’s Bay region – particularly the wine – as well as a huge array of beautiful beaches. Located slightly inland from Napier, Hastings is just over an hour from Ruahine Forest Park, a haven for hikers. One of the sunniest cities and regions in New Zealand, Hastings is an excellent place to explore if you love food – especially fresh fruit – and outdoor activities alike.
And then what? Campervan hire in Hastings
Though you could call Hawke’s Bay an oasis in itself, the Hastings Top 10 Holiday Park is an oasis in an oasis – located on 10 acres just 3 km from city centre, this park also includes access to private spa pools and a swimming pool heated in winter. Until June 30, 2017, Hastings is undergoing a free parking trial – though one-to-two-hour time limits still apply, parking is currently free in Hastings’s central business district. Freedom camping is also permitted within the city. Find out more information on the Visit Hastings website. Hastings is seated on State Highway 2, which connects nearby Wellington to Auckland along the North Island’s east coast. To head northeast along State Highway 5, follow Highway 2 or 50A through Napier. You can fill your refrigerator or chilly box before you leave Hastings at a number of conveniently located supermarkets, such as Pak’n Save and New World on Heretaunga Street, but you would be remiss not to take advantage of the orchards of the region by buying fresh food at food stands or the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Markets.
